IUP Business School Holds Successful 38th Annual Business Day

As part of Eberly’s 38th annual Business Day, students had the opportunity to learn from industry leaders and to network with nearly 60 alumni and other business leaders at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex. The April 7, 2016, event included four sessions, with more than 700 students, business leaders, faculty, administrators, and staff. 

Business Day 2016 Two Students 2Pittsburgh native Buddy Hobart gave a presentation to students titled “Millenials and the Evolution of Leadership.”  Buddy is the president and founder of Solutions 21. He is a consultant, entrepreneur, leadership expert, author, speaker, and former radio host. Buddy is the author of five books, with the second edition of his book, Gen Y Now: Millennials and the Evolution of Leadership, published in 2014. He is a pioneer in the discussion about attracting and retaining Millennials in the workforce. He also discusses managing inter-generational issues.

While students attended the morning presentation, faculty and staff from the Eberly College split into five sessions by department to meet with business leaders from their respective disciplines to discuss topics related to curriculum, internships and job placement, scholarly activity, and student achievements.  

The late-morning session featured a networking session, a luncheon and presentation that highlighted Eberly activities and achievements throughout the year.

  • Donald P. Haddad ‘79, Senior Vice President of Citizens Bank

Business Day 2016 - Students 1Cyndy Strittmatter, assistant dean for administration, serves as coordinator for the annual event. “Business Day is a long-standing tradition that brings together our current students with alumni, business partners, faculty, and staff.  It’s a highlight of our year and a great opportunity to have our business partners return to campus and to showcase Eberly’s achievements, the achievements of our students, and the numerous accomplishments of our alumni.”
