IUP Tick Team Presents Seminar for Evergreen Conservancy

Biology students Austin Edwards, Rebecca Kruise, Victoria Stone, Shannon Tepe, and Emily Welch, and faculty members Anne and Tom Simmons, presented a blacklegged tick and Lyme disease seminar for the Evergreen Conservancy at Blue Spruce County Park on April 15, 2016.

The “Safely Exploring the Woods in the Age Ticks and Lyme Disease” seminar was well attended by more than 100 people. The latest news on blacklegged tick and Lyme disease occurrence and distribution were presented to the audience, as well as information on tick biology, tick-bite prevention and removal, tick reduction landscaping, and Lyme disease testing, symptoms, and treatment.
