Arnaldo Cohen to Present Open Masterclass

Arnaldo CohenOn Monday, April 25, 2016, the Lively Arts will present Steinway Artist Arnaldo Cohen in a special masterclass session. He will be in town to present a full concert on Tuesday, April 26, as part of the Ovations! series. The class begins at 6:30 p.m.

The class, free and open to all, will be held in Gorell Recital Hall, located on the second floor of John Sutton Hall. The class will include selected students and is especially geared to music students and enthusiasts of any age. 

The students performing include Cody McCready, Prelude No. 1 by George Gershwin; Alexandra Stossel,  Sarabande from Pour le Piano by Claude Debussy; Hsin-Jou Lee, Ballade No. 1, Op. 23 by Frederic Chopin; and Jiayin Sun, Piano Concerto No. 5, Op. 73, by Ludwig Van Beethoven

Cited as “one of the world’s greatest living pianists,”  Cohen is currently a tenured piano professor in the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, in Bloomington, Indiana. Previous to this appointment, he held a professorship at the royal Academy of Music in London and is the recipient of a fellowship from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.
