IUP Students and Alumni Present at, and Tange Wins Teacher of the Year Award at 50th TESOL Convention

The 50th TESOL Convention, one of the most competitive and prestigious professional forums for the teaching of English as an international language, took place in Baltimore, Maryland, with more than 6,500 attendees from more than 75 countries representing all areas of the field of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.

Among the those selected to present were IUP students and alumni: Rachel and James Goertel (Penn State University), Roza Kazakbaeva (University of Central Asia, Khazahstan), Alec Lapidus (University of Southern Maine), and Mir Abdullah Miri and Roy Sukanto (IUP).

Most importantly, the highest professional award, i.e., the 2016 TESOL Teacher of the Year Award, went to Composition and TESOL alumna Shannon Tanghe (Dankook University, S. Korea), who delivered her featured session on "Teaching to Learn: Focus on Teacher Inquiry Stance."
