Patrick Bizzaro, a major voice in American poetry and literary criticism, international creative writing, and composition pedagogy, will give a poetry reading April 14, 2016, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., in room B03 of the Humanities and Social Sciences building.
Bizzaro has published eleven books and chapbooks of poetry, most recently Poems of the Manassas Battlefield from Mount Olive College Press and Interruptions from Finishing Line Press.
He's also published several renowned critical studies of Fred Chappell's poetry and fiction, made major contributions to creative writing and composition pedagogy, and has published hundreds of poems and essays in the nation's top literary and academic journals.
Among his many awards are the Madeline Sadin Award from NYQ and the Four Quarter's Poetry Prize as well as a Fulbright and nine teaching awards. Currently, he is at work on a new book of poetry and a literary study, The Rhetoric of the New Southern Writing.
