Junior Achievement’s 2016 Regional Titan Competition was held on March 10 at the Eberly College of Business and Information Technology on IUP’s main campus. There were 43 teams in attendance, including 118 students and 16 teachers, from nine school districts across Southwestern Pennsylvania.

Junior Achievement 2016 Regional Titan Competition WinnersJA Titan is uniquely designed to unleash student creativity, test leadership skills, and demonstrate the competitive nature of the free enterprise system. These high school student teams strategized to operate the most successful global businesses.

Students made real economic decisions on price, production, marketing, capital investment, and research and development. Each round of competition simulated a business quarter and allowed students to manage and operate their own virtual business, and the success or failure of the company depended on the key decisions made by the students.

The top three teams included:

  • First place, Chestnut Ridge High School
  • Second place, Richland High School
  • Third place Marion Center High School

“We really enjoy hosting this event each year for the students and their teachers,” said Cyndy Strittmatter, assistant dean for Administration. “It is a real opportunity for us to showcase the campus and the Eberly facility, while providing students with an opportunity to further develop their business acumen.”
