Todd Nathan Thompson's essay “‘Homespun,’ ‘Indian Corn,’ and the ‘indigestible...Stamp Act’: An Empire of Stereotype in Franklin's Letters to the London Press” was recently published in the book Community without Consent: New Perspectives on the Stamp Act (ed. Zachary McLeod Hutchins, Dartmouth College Press, 2016).
Thompson's essay considers how American colonists repurposed English stereotypes about Americans during the Stamp Act crisis of 1765-66. The book is an installment in Re-Mapping the Transnational: A Dartmouth Series in American Studies.
