SBI Wins Third Place in National Project of the Year Awards

Spring 2015 SBI Winners - CrankupsCongratulations to the Small Business Institute for placing third in the Undergraduate Feasibility category of this year’s National Project of the Year Awards. The award was accepted by SBI Assistant Director Joette Wisnieski, PhD, while attending the 2016 Small Business Institute Conference in New Orleans, La.

The team consisted of Matthew Baxter, Ryan Brannon, Matthew Knepper, and Bryan Sweigart, who have all since graduated from IUP.

Led by Stephen Osborne, PhD, the team was tasked with determining feasibility and developing a business plan for a local company. Crankups, LLC is an Indiana-based company that produces a bicycle accessory intended to increase pedaling effectiveness and efficiency.

Ryan Brannon was also the winner of the IUP Sharktank competition and SSHE Business Plan Competition for his innovative "My New Leaf" concept.
