Philanthropy Day 2016

Take a moment to tell IUP donors what their generosity means to you. Say thanks this Thursday!

Faculty, staff, and students are invited to join President Michael Driscoll and the Student Philanthropy Council at IUP Philanthropy Day, Thursday, February 25, 2016 in Stapleton Library commons.

The celebration takes place from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. President Driscoll, Professor Michele Papakie, and a student who has benefited from scholarship support will make remarks at 12:40 p.m. You can join in the conversation by using #IUPproud on your favorite social media account. Tell an IUP donor why you are thankful for your scholarship or for a program or facility that has benefited from charitable support.

Last year, 9,180 alumni, employees, students, parents, friends, and corporations and foundations made gifts of varying sizes in support of IUP.

“Each and every member of our university community—students, faculty, and staff alike, benefit from the generosity of our donors. Days like today call attention to that, but really, we should be celebrating our donors’ generosity every day. They make our university and the IUP experience what it is today—from laboratory equipment, to library resources, to industry-specific technology, to on-campus speakers, to scholarships—there’s really no end to the list of what philanthropy touches here. We celebrate today first to offer our sincere thanks, but second, to educate our community about the impact giving has on us all,” said Emily Smeltz, director of Annual Giving.

The celebration includes refreshments, a photo booth, and the opportunity to write a postcard of thanks to a donor who contributed to IUP last year. Those who attend will also receive a t-shirt (while supplies last).
