In the latest edition of IUP Magazine, President Michael Driscoll provides his view on the importance of liberal arts and humanities in education and in life.

“I must tell you that I cringe when I hear people say in response to a student’s desire to study a subject in the liberal arts, ‘Oh, you’ll never get a job,’ or worse, ‘Just get that requirement out of the way, so you can concentrate on your real work,’” Driscoll wrote.

Read the entire commentary, called An Appreciation for Other Things, and all of the Fall-Winter, 2015, edition of IUP Magazine , which includes stories about alumni who work on Florida's Space Coast, an alumnus who created a peace movement in South Boston, and a special program that is giving an edge to undergraduate science and math students.
