IT Services will conduct a phone system pilot beginning January 4, 2016, in which IT Services’ phones will utilize IUP’s Internet connection instead of a landline. The pilot will help determine the potential for this technology (referred to as ‘VOIP’) at IUP.
Since IT Services’ phone numbers will not be part of the IUP landline system during the pilot, five-digit dialing will not be valid when calling the phone number of IT Services employees. Instead, IT Services phones will require the same dialing as off-campus numbers. For example, The IT Support Center number will be 9-724-357-4000 instead of 7-4000.
Any problems connecting to an IT Services phone should be logged via an ihelp ticket.
