Mary Beth Leidman's film "Intersecting Sparks: Art and Science, Research and Imagination" will be shown at the National Communications Association (NCA) Film Festival in Las Vegas.

This hour-long documentary aired on regional PBS affiliate WPSU and is included in major university film library collections at UCLA, University of Maryland, Indiana University–Bloomington, and Penn State, among others.

Thomas Brown, a PhD student in communications media and instructional technology, acted as assistant producer and editor. This is the first time an IUP faculty member has won a place in any national film festival.

Previous media recognition received by Leidman includes Achievement in Radio, Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters, and the Davey Awards, among others.

The NCA is the leading national organization for communications academics and professionals. Its 2015 national convention is being held on November 18–21.
