Discussion on Big Solar Energy Transition and Future for Our Communities

Jeffrey Brownson, from Penn State’s Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering, will present "The Big Solar Energy Transition: Future for Our Communities" on November 5, 2015, at 7:00 p.m. in Weyandt Hall, room 32.

This discussion will focus on how solar energy will cause transformative change in all sectors of society in the coming years. Brownson approaches these changes from a systems perspective. The key to solar’s success is that all solar is local. It is an exciting time of transition: the broad scope of solar as a framework for research and design (a solar ecology) reveals many opportunities among science, technology, and society, both in terms of present day energy and employment strategies, and planning for the scope of a climate changed by 2100.
