The
Lively Arts at IUP, in conjunction with Phoenix Entertainment, is searching for
a local young male to portray Young Coalhouse in a walk-on, non-speaking role
in the final moments of the Broadway hit Ragtime
when it comes to Indiana next month.
The criteria of the Young Coalhouse
character is a young African American boy, looking around four years old,
approximately 3’6” and weighing around 40 pounds.
To
be considered for this role, the child and his parent or guardian must attend
an open call anytime between 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30, at the
Artists Hand Gallery, 732 Philadelphia Street, Indiana.
At
the Gallery, the Lively Arts will take full-length front and side photos as
well as a headshot. There is nothing to prepare in advance. This is a
volunteer, unpaid role for this one-night performance, and the decision will be
made by Phoenix Entertainment, which is producing the Broadway tour.
The selected child
must be able to attend a rehearsal and wardrobe fittings on the day of the
performance, November 19, 2015, in Fisher Auditorium. An adult chaperone must also
be available to accompany him at all times.

any questions or more information, please call the Lively Arts at 724-357-2787 or e-mail lively-arts@iup.edu.
