Posted on 10/21/2015 10:56:02 AM

Are you ready to take another chance at exercising across America? This year, we’re continuing the successful and beneficial Wellness Challenge of last year, with some great changes.

You will be given the opportunity to travel to different states across the country, and be awarded 25 Healthy U points for completing the challenge. The 2015 Exercise Across the USA Wellness Challenge will provide a great way to meet the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines to engage in moderate physical activity for 150 minutes per week.

The Goal:

Participate in at least 150 minutes of physical activity every week. If you exercise more than the recommendations, you’ll be awarded all 50 states!

Location:

James G. Mill Fitness Center, Zink Hall.

Time:

Seven weeks beginning October 26 through December 11

The Cost:

$15 for members; $25 for non-members (includes a seven-week membership for the duration of the challenge). Sign up with a friend, and each receives a five-day guest pass. Register in the fitness center at any time throughout the challenge

Includes:

Free sign-up gift and an exercise log

The Challenge:

Hours of exercise will be converted to mileage that will help you travel to different states across the USA. Each hour of physical activity will count as traveling and being awarded one state (with a postcard of that state given). Examples of physical activity include running, brisk walking, strength training, aerobics, playing sport, dancing, lap swimming, and water aerobics.

The Reward:

For each state awarded, you will receive one raffle ticket for the chance to win one of two gift baskets. These will include an apparel gift card, 25 percent off new/renewed membership, a five-day guest pass, and other beneficial items for your journey to becoming a healthier you. The person who travels to the most states will receive a trophy at the end, and be recognized in our monthly newsletter.
