IUP is committed to establishing and maintaining a community free from all
forms of discrimination and harassment and is dedicated to promoting the
safety and security of minors who visit campus or participate in our programs. Last
year, changes in federal and state law created reporting responsibilities for all
employees in regard to Title IX and Protection of Minors.
In support of compliance with these regulations, large-group training
sessions have been scheduled for all colleges and divisions here on campus.
These will be hosted by Valerie Mercado, compliance officer and Title IX
coordinator, or Sondra Dennison, director of Residential Living and deputy
Title IX coordinator.
These training sessions are required for every employee each academic year.
The Title IX and Protection of Minors training held last spring was for the
2014–15 academic year. The sessions scheduled this semester will fulfill the
requirement for the 2015–16 academic year.
All employees have now been notified of the training sessions scheduled for
their division, department, or college through their Title IX liaison or the
Office of Social Equity. If you are
unsure of your session options, please contact Karen Mathe at email@example.com. Please note that this
information also pertains to student workers, graduate assistants, or any other
students who work/report to your offices.
