Jesse Cole was selected as the 2015 English Association of Pennsylvania State Universities’ Outstanding English Major for Indiana University of Pennsylvania, on the basis of her GPA, many service activities, and the originality and merit of her work—as reflected through numerous honors and awards.
As an honoree, she read her acclaimed creative nonfiction piece, “The Unbraiding,” in a special session of the fall 2015 conference devoted to outstanding English majors.
Jesse is an English writing studies major at IUP with minors in Spanish and philosophy. She is a Michigan native who fell in love with the rolling hills of Indiana, Pennsylvania, and the amicable squirrels that inhabit the Oak Grove on campus. She is involved with the nonprofit amateur theater group TOST and Turned, as well as the campus literary and art magazine, the New Growth Arts Review. Additionally, she is this year’s student president of the Xi Xi chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the International English Honor Society.
