A Week of Events in Celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 to October 15), the Hispanic Heritage Council and the Latino Student Organization (LaSO) will present daily events during the week of October 12–16, 2015, which will celebrate the traditions and importance of Latino and Hispanic cultures.

2015 Hispanic Heritage Events posterThese events will include Noche de Cine Latino: Maria Full of Grace on Monday, October 12, at 5:30 p.m. in the HUB Monongahela Room, and the Ritmo Latino Dance Crew on Tuesday, October 13, at 5:00 p.m. in G-41 Stephenson Hall.

Presentations on Wednesday, October 14, and Thursday, October 15 will include discussions about Latino concerns and will be hosted by Lambda Sigma Upsilon Latino Fraternity, Sigma Delta Pi, Tlacuilo Honor Society, Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority, and the Student Organization for Caribbean Awareness. These will take place at 6:00 p.m. each evening in the HUB.

The culminating event, Fiesta Latina!, will take place on Friday, October 16, from 8:00 p.m. to midnight in the HUB Delaware Room. The evening will feature Latin music and food. 

In addition to the Hispanic Heritage Council and the Latino Student Organization (LaSO), these events are made possible by Amnesty International and the Office of Social Equity.
