Museum Gala Reservations Still Available

Group preparing for the benefit galaThere is still time to reserve your spot at the 2015 University Museum benefit gala, Your Special Island, to be held Friday, October 16, from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. in John Sutton Hall on the IUP campus.

Those attending will enjoy a tour of the musical styles of Jamaica, Brazil, Cuba, Polynesia, and Trinidad as performed by the IUP Steel Band and Percussion Ensemble. Joining them will be special guest musicians and a feature performance by IUP Dance Theater.

For refreshments, guests will be treated to exotic fare, including a roasted pig, flambéed bananas, and signature cocktails, among a host of other tropical fare. Attendees are invited to don their favorite island fashion.

As part of the gala, a variety of items will be offered during silent and live auctions. Those attending will have the chance to bid on items donated by local businesses and individuals, including a sterling silver pendant with carnelian and blue topaz stones designed by Gary Wyant. All bids must be placed in person at the Gala, and a tax credit is available on the amount paid above the fair market value.

Reservations, which need to be made in advance, are still being accepted, and the cost $125 per person.
