Incident Detail

IUP Police Department has been made aware of several crime incidents involving thefts and an attempted robbery that appear to be related. All incidents took place on campus on October 4, 2015 between approximately 2:30 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. At approximately 2:30 a.m. in the second-floor lobby of Delaney Hall, the victim was approached by four black females, all approximately 18–22 years of age, one with bright orange or red hair and asked about restrooms on the floor. Two of the suspects then walked up to the victim and grabbed the cellular telephone out of her hand and all suspects then left the building. At approximately 2:50 a.m. near the intersection of Pratt Drive and Grant Street, a second victim was walking alone when a vehicle approached and three to four black males and two black females exited. The suspects confronted the victim and demanded her money and her purse. The victim refused and then ran to a bus parked nearby, boarded the bus and called police. At approximately 3:30 a.m. on the second floor of Ruddock Hall, the third victim was awakened by the sounds of voices in his suite. The unknown person(s) in the room left shortly thereafter and the victim then began to check around the suite and discovered his cellular phone was missing. Subsequent video footage obtained from this building showed four black females (one with bright orange or red hair) and three black males leaving the room during this time frame.

These cases are under investigation by the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Police Department. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the IUP Police Department at 724-357-2141.
