Just in time for the Halloween season, the Lively Arts will present
L.A. Theatre Works’ Dracula. This chilling tale, to be performed in unique radio-play style, will take place on Thursday, October 8, 2015, at 8:00 p.m. in Fisher Auditorium of IUP’s Performing Arts Center and is the second event of the
Ovations! series season.
In Charles Morey’s acclaimed adaptation of Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula, Count Dracula is an otherworldly being feeding off others to preserve his eternal life. As he slips quietly into Victorian London, he can only find rest by draining the life
out of his hapless victims. The city seems powerless against his frightful power; and only one man—the smart and resourceful Dr. Van Helsing—can stop the carnage.
Renowned for being the foremost radio theater company in the United States for more than two decades, L.A. Theatre Works has single-handedly brought the finest recorded dramatic literature into the homes of millions. And now, for a one-night only performance on the Fisher Auditorium stage, they bring to life one of the
world’s greatest horror stories ever told.
On the road, LATW has delighted audiences in over 300 small towns and major cities worldwide. An L.A. Theatre Works performance is immediate and spontaneous and features a first-rate cast, live sound effects, and a connection to the audience rarely felt in a traditional theater setting.
Audience members are encouraged to arrive early as eight student organizations join in serving up “mocktails” for “Toasting to the Living Dead.” Held in the Performing Arts Center Grand Lobby starting at 6:45 p.m., audience members can sample a variety
non-alcoholic beverage concoctions and vote for their favorite. Organized by the Pulse and the Center for Student Life, organizations will also decorate their tables for the season and be awarded prizes after the performance.
Tickets for the October 8 event are available now online, or at the Lively Arts’
ticketing website. Tickets can also be purchased at the Hadley Union Building ticket office on the IUP campus or by calling the HUB ticket office at (724) 357-1313.
Any seats remaining will be sold at the door starting one hour prior to the performance. Tickets are priced at $40 for regular admission, $34 for seniors and groups, and $18 for students and children.
