The Department of English, in partnership with IUP Libraries and EGO, will be hosting IUP’s annual Read Out on Wednesday, September 30, at 1:00 p.m. in Stapleton Library, across from Java City.
We are thrilled that the IUP President Dr. Michael Driscoll, and his wife, Becky, will once again kick off the event with their annual inspired readings, and we invite you to sign up to read out from your favorite banned or challenged book.
This year’s special focus is Children’s and Young Adult literature—so you can expect to hear many of your beloved favorites among the varied books that have been suppressed, challenged, or outright banned over the years.
English Graduate Organization graduate students will provide passages from which to choose, or we welcome your own offering of a two- to three-minute passage from a favorite that has faced censorship challenges.
Sign up at the event for a reading slot. Lucky prize winners will go home with book-lover gift baskets, and refreshments will be served.
The setting in the open area across from Java City allows listeners to come and go, so please join us for a few minutes of inspiration as we celebrate our freedom to read.
