Pittsburgh Symphony Players To Work With IUP Music Students

On September 23–24, 2015, musicians from the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra will be coaching the IUP music students who have been selected to participate in the side-by-side residency and subsequent performance with the PSO when they come to Fisher Auditorium on September 30. The sessions are free and open for auditing to anyone interested.

The schedule is:

September 23, 7:30 p.m.

Woodwinds

  • Cogswell Hall, Room 116
  • Coached by principal piccoloist, Rhian Kenny

Brass

  • Cogswell Hall, Room 120
  • Coached by principal trombone, Peter Sullivan

Strings

September 24, 7:30 p.m.

Gorell Recital Hall, second floor of John Sutton Hall  

All IUP students selected for the side-by-side will be coached by PSO resident conductor Francesco Lecce-Chong in an open rehearsal. All interested individuals are invited to observe the maestro working with the students to prepare them for an additional rehearsal with the full orchestra in Pittsburgh, followed by the performance in Indiana on September 30.
