The University Museum
will hold its annual gala event on Friday, October 16, 2015, in Sutton
Hall. The event starts at 6:00 p.m.
The University Museum’s annual benefit gala invites you to
imagine “Your Special Island”— your ideal tropical paradise. The gala event also
features the 2015-16 season opening exhibit Triennial 2015.
Visions of bright sun, warm sand, cool waters, and swaying
palms inspired the theme. Perhaps, when you imagine your tropical
paradise, you hear the steel drums of the Caribbean or the ukulele and
percussion of Polynesia. Or maybe you see the white sand and azure waters of
Central America, the Mediterranean, the French Riviera, and Africa, or even the
rainforests of South America.
The choice of tropical locale is yours during an evening of
food, music, and entertainment inspired by the tropics. Our gala invites
everyone attending to wear their finest island-inspired fashion.
The catered event will begin with a tropical cocktail
reception in the University Museum and continue in the Blue Room for dining.
The festivities will include a pig roast outside Sutton Hall, live
entertainment, fundraising auctions, and dancing.
Triennial 2015 is a group exhibition that shines the
spotlight on IUP’s own Art Department faculty. The works created and collected
by the faculty enrich the experiences of their students in the
classroom each semester and now, will be shared with the community through this
group exhibition. This collaborative effort provides such varied styles and
mediums to interest and inspire the most diverse of audiences.
Reservations, requested by October 9, are required and cost
$125 per person. Reservations can be made directly online, clicking on the "Get Tickets" button. You can also download the invitation
card and RSVP form on the same page. Additional information is available by contacting Leslie Kluchurosky at at 724-357-2397 or e-mailing
her at email@example.com.
Proceeds from the gala support the University Museum’s
admission-free exhibitions, public education programming and lectures, and
conservation of art objects.
