Todd Thompson, associate professor of English, recently published a monograph, titled The National Joker: Abraham Lincoln and the Politics of Satire, with Southern Illinois University Press. The book traces the relationship between the popular press satires on Lincoln and Lincoln’s own satiric self-presentation.
Thompson’s book has already been touted in the
New York Post as a must-read book and in the
Chicago Book Review’s Summer 2015 Preview.
The National Joker is available for purchase through various outlets, including Amazon.com.
