The Lively Arts at IUP is coordinating donations to
purchase and dedicate seats in Fisher Auditorium in memory of recent graduate
Jonathan, a member of the Lively Arts student staff for two
years while attending IUP, passed away unexpectedly on May 27, 2015, two weeks
after graduating at the top of his class with a degree in accounting from IUP’s Eberly College of Business.
Jonathan was a vital and highly respected member of the
Lively Arts team, sparking thoughts of entering the field of arts and
not-for-profit management. In tribute, the Lively Arts staff will purchase one
seat for $500 with the goal of selling more seats to fill an entire row. The
additional amount looking to be raised is $4,500.
For each seat purchased, a small brass plaque will be
permanently affixed to the seat back with Jonathan’s name. A larger plaque
acknowledging all donors will also be displayed in the Performing Arts Center lobby.
As one staff member stated in proposing the idea, “He will always have a seat
to see the shows.”
Fisher seat fund was established to provide Fisher Auditorium with the
necessary equipment and enhancements needed for the performances it hosts
throughout the year, with 100 percent of the donations received to be used for this
to the purchase of seats in memory of Jonathan can be made to the Fisher
Auditorium fund online through IUP’s Giving site. Donations may also be sent
directly to the Foundation for IUP, G-1 Sutton Hall, Indiana, PA 15705, with a
note stating the gift is for Fisher Auditorium in Jonathan’s memory. Checks
should be made payable to the Foundation for IUP.
