Scene from Memphis the MusicalAs its final educational outreach event for the 2014–15 Ovations! series, the Lively Arts will present two Q&A sessions with cast members and musicians from the Broadway hit Memphis the Musical on Monday, May 4.

The first takes place from 5:00–5:50 p.m. in Cogswell Hall, Room 201, with musicians Jason Whitmore, saxophone, and Chuck Curry, trumpet. This is a great opportunity for people to talk with professionals about what it takes to reach the level of a Broadway show, tips on playing and touring, what they have done as freelance musicians, and any other questions about music and the music industry.

The second outreach is with seven cast members and takes place immediately after the show in the Mezzanine Lobby of Fisher Auditorium. The participating cast members are as follows:

  • Anastasia Albert, Teen Girl/Ensemble
  • Esther Antoine, Selma/Ensemble
  • Courtney Blackman, Swing/Ensemble
  • Timmy Hays, Clara/Dance Captain
  • Daniel Hines, Huey
  • AJ Lockhart, Wailin' Joe
  • Chris McNiff, Buck Wiley

As with the musicians, this is an excellent opportunity to find out more about the paths these talented individuals have taken in order to be a member of a hit Broadway touring musical.
