The annual Sidewalk Commentary Contest, a.k.a.
“Chalk-on-the-Walk,” will take place on Wednesday, April 29, 2015. This is
an annual student contest presented by the IUP College of Fine Arts and
the IUP chapter of the National Art Education Association.
Students, student organizations, and IUP classes are encouraged to
create a social or political message in chalk between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30
p.m., with colored chalk provided.
Judging will occur between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. Prizes awarded (for IUP
students only) will be announced in the Oak Grove at 5:00 p.m. The
public is invited to stroll through the Oak Grove to watch students
create their drawings throughout the day and when the works are
Although good weather is anticipated for the 29th, the rain date is set for Friday, May 1. The event is funded, in part, by the IUP Student Cooperative Association and managed by the Lively Arts.
