Ed BouchetteEd Bouchette, voted by his peers from around the country as the 2014 pro football reporter of the year, will speak at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17, in Beard Auditorium in Stouffer Hall.

All IUP students, faculty, and staff are invited to this program sponsored by the department of journalism and public relations. Bouchette, the Pittsburgh Steelers beat writer for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette for more than 30 years who has covered 31 Super Bowls, will be on campus to receive a Distinguished Alumni Award Saturday evening.

A 1973 business management graduate, he became a part of the Pro Football Hall of Fame in August in Canton, Ohio, when he received the Dick McCann Award for “long and distinguished contributions to pro football through coverage.” This honor, voted on by members of the Professional Football Writers of America, is named for Dick McCann, the first director of the Hall of Fame.

This award began in 1969 and includes several Pulitzer Prize winners.

The appearance by Bouchette, a longtime member of the Hall of Fame Selection Committee who has written for the Post-Gazette since 1983, will feature primarily a question-and-answer format.  The Department of Journalism and Public Relations invites you to bring your questions for Ed Bouchette and listen to his answers.
