Geoscience Prof. Ken Coles will give a lecture entitled “Making a New Atlas of Mars” on Friday, April 10, at 7:30 p.m. at the Carnegie Science Center. The lecture will be presented at the monthly public meeting of the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh.

Coles is working with Ken Tanaka, U.S. Geological Survey, and Phil Christensen, Arizona State University, on an atlas of Mars. He will review the choices made in creating the atlas, including a sampling of the images of spectacular, yet mysterious features of the red planet.

Details on attending the meeting, which will be at the Bayer Science Stage of the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh, are available at the AAAP website.
