Today is a big day for graduating IUP seniors! Hundreds will
visit the Co-op Store’s semi-annual Salute to Grads event to pick up their
graduation regalia. Many seniors will choose to
mark this significant occasion by contributing to the Senior Class Gift. Those who make a gift of $20.15 (or more),
in honor of their graduation year, will receive a set of philanthropy cords—a special
adornment to wear at graduation.
These double-knotted
crimson and gray cords represent the reciprocal commitment between IUP and its
alumni. This year’s seniors have decided to make their mark by lending support to each of IUP’s six Deans Merit Scholarship funds. So far, seniors in
the class of 2015 have given more than $2,000. That total will
significantly increase after today’s event.
Today, IUP faculty and staff are invited to honor the
accomplishments of our graduating seniors, and help to secure the success of
future graduating classes, by making their own gift—to the University Family
Drive.
Last year, seniors from the class of 2014 provided
meaningful funding to restore a stained glass window to be placed in the new
Humanities Building. That’s not all their gifts supported. Like you, seniors and students that make
gifts to the Foundation for IUP are encouraged to support what’s meaningful to
them. They gave philanthropic support to their favorite IUP athletics teams and
numerous college, department, and scholarship funds.
The University Family Drive runs through April
3, 2015. It is 75 percent to the goal of 750 donors, and it is worthy of your support. For
more information on how you can make an impact on IUP students, including how
to download a pledge form or make an electronic commitment via payroll
deduction, visit the University Family Campaign website.
You may also make on gift on your credit card. Gifts are tax deductible, per IRS regulations. Please contact the Office of Annual Giving at
724-357-5555 or iup-giving@iup.edu with
any questions.
