Flonationals High School National Wrestling Championship Returns to KCAC This Week

Flowrestling, the largest media source for the sport of wrestling, brought its FloNationals tournament to Indiana, Pa., two years ago with the intention of creating a national high-school wrestling championship that surpasses any event in the sport.

Now in its third year at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex (KCAC), Flonationals is regarded among the toughest, most well-run, and most fan-friendly competitions in all the sport.

Last year, more nationally ranked wrestlers, from all high school grades and in one singular bracket per weight, wrestled at FloNationals than all other post season events combined as the country’s premier college recruits add to the the legacy of the tournament.

Located in the nation’s premier wrestling hotbed, the Kovalchick Complex will again play host to an estimated 8,000 attendees and 1,500 athletes throughout the championship event. The tournament will be held at the KCAC through Saturday, April 4.

The top-end talent that has graced the mats at FloNationals includes some of the biggest names in the NCAA right now. Nick Gwiazdowski, the number one heavyweight in America, was a FloNationals champion in 2010, the same year that last year’s 149lb NCAA champion, Jason Tsirtsis, won the 135lb bracket at FloNationals.

The 2015 edition of FloNationals will feature eight returning champions coming back looking to repeat. Two of those include locals Luke Pletcher (Greater Latrobe) and Sam Krivus (Hempfield), who have combined for three titles, four finals appearances, and six medals in their trips to FloNationals.
Additionally, the professional bouts return to FloNationals after Penn State national champion Ed Ruth defeated Pitt Panther All American Matt Wilps in 2014.
