The partnership of the Lively Arts and IUP Libraries combine again to present Grammy-winning pianist, composer, and arranger Pablo Ziegler in a special question-and-answer demonstration event on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, from 12:00–1:00 p.m. in Cogswell Hall’s Orendorff Music Library.
The event is part of the Library Lively Arts Mary Jane Shafer Memorial series. It is free and open to all those interested.
Born in Buenos Aires in 1944, Ziegler has had an extraordinary career as a pianist, composer, and arranger. He has played in the world-renowned quintet of arguably one of Argentina’s most famous musicans, Astor Piazzolla, as well as forming several of his own award-winning groups, such as Pablo Ziegler Terceto and the Pablo Ziegler Quartet, among others over the years.
As part of his visit to Indiana, the Pablo Ziegler Quartet will present a concert at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, in Gorell Recital Hall, located on the second floor of Sutton Hall. Tickets for the concert are available in advance online or at the door.
Ziegler has played all over the world in various festivals and with various artists such as Gary Burton, Paquito D’Rivera, and Branford Marsalis, among others. He has produced nine albums, with his 2005 release Bajo Cero receiving the Latin Grammy Award for Best Tango Album.
