University Family Drive: You and Your Contribution Make Big Things Happen

University Family HeartCheck your campus mailbox! The 2015 University Family Drive kicks off today.

Participation is the name of the game, and giving is easy. This spring, the goal of the drive is to build upon last year’s momentum to raise support for IUP students from 750 employees.

A high participation rate not only positively impacts the student experience through private gifts, it also conveys to alumni and to Harrisburg that we care, that we are dedicated to our cause, and that IUP is, in turn, worthy of their support.  When our students have an excellent experience here, they are more likely to contribute as alumni as well.

In the packet you will receive in the mail, you’ll find a sampling of designations for your consideration, including your own department, if you wish, or any other area on campus that you believe is important. With close to 1,000 accounts in the Foundation for IUP, the opportunities for your generosity are varied. For example, the Dean’s Merit Scholarship funds for each college allow you to put your gifts directly into the hands of students. Designating to the Sutton Scholarship Fund does that, too—and, this year, if you choose to support the Sutton Scholarship, the Foundation for IUP will match your gift dollar for dollar, doubling the impact of your gift.

Moreover, IUP students need you. At a time when the costs associated with attaining a college degree—for example text books, rent, and even fuel costs for our commuters—are on the rise, donor support is crucial. Each semester, many students are able to maintain their enrollment solely because of scholarship support they receive. Without it, and without donors like you, they would no longer study on campus.

Need another reason to give? If the number of individual donors that support IUP programs and students increases this year, we stand to be rewarded additional budget money from the State System. Last year, because of IUP’s progress towards established performance measures across the university, IUP received a performance award of $4.3 million. Talk about a return on your investment! It’s a team effort—every donor counts.

The drive, operated by the Office of Annual Giving, runs through April 3. Faculty and staff may designate their gifts to their own departments, to any scholarship fund of their choosing, or to any fund within the Foundation for IUP. All donors will be invited to a Victory Reception hosted by President Michael Driscoll on April 13.

You can find more information on the University Family website, and if you have questions about where to designate your gift, contact the Office of Annual Giving at or 724-357-5555.
