The Lively Arts at IUP invites students and everyone else interested to a “Milonga” with international dance stars Miriam Larici and Leonardo Barriionuevo. This traditional Argentinian community dance celebration will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, from 7:00–8:00 p.m. in the
Rehearsal Studio of the IUP Performing Arts Center.
Admission to this event is free, but space is limited with RSVPs requested to Jeff Wacker at jwacker@iup.edu.
A Milonga is typically held after an evening performance or gathering, incorporates many normal tango steps at a fast pace, and is played and danced in a 2/4 beat rather than a standard 4/4. The Lively Arts-hosted Milonga will be a very relaxed and fun mix of learning and dancing. Light refreshments will be served.
This event is being held in conjunction with Te Amo, Argentina, a performance on the Lively Arts
Ovations! series that blends Argentine chamber music, original tango
choreography, and commissioned projected animations and visual artwork.
Te Amo, Argentina, which includes Latin Grammy-winning cellist Antonio
Lysy and the Attaca Quartet, will be presented Wednesday, February 11,
at 8:00 p.m. in Fisher Auditorium.
For more information, call 724-357-2787. To purchase tickets for the February 11 performance of Te Amo, Argentina, buy them online, or call the HUB Box Office at 724-357-1313.
