Construction of the new Humanities building and the Folger
Dining Hall renovation are the two major on-going construction projects
continuing during spring semester at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Interior demolition work has been completed on Folger Hall,
and mechanical and electrical systems are being installed. Work will begin soon on the new front
addition to the building. The post
office and Print Center have remained operational throughout, and appreciation
goes out to the staff and visitors for their patience and understanding during
The building has an
estimated July 2015 completion date and will be ready to serve students for
fall term 2015. The building will house
an all-you-care-to-eat meal plan dining hall as well as a small retail food
The Humanities building is on track to meet the October 24, 2015,
estimated completion date, and will open for classes for spring term 2016.
The time from October 2015 to January 2016
will be spent installing furniture and IT equipment and preparing the building
for IUP occupancy.
The building is
nearing the 60 percent completion milestone. It
is fully weatherproof, and the interior work is proceeding with no affect from the
frigid winter weather. Installation of
the brick façade is underway, and the masons are working through the winter with
the help of temporary enclosures and heat.
