Six Sigma members after receiving their yellow belts from Operations Strategy Consulting LLC.The Six Sigma Yellow Belt training was presented by Operations Strategy Consulting LLC (OSC) for 15 students in the Eberly College of Business and Information Technology. The training was held over three Saturdays; October 25, November 1, and November 8 and was cosponsored by the Student Management Association and the Eberly College.

OSC is a consulting group whose focus is to help companies with continuous improvement through training courses in Lean Six Sigma methodologies, which supports improvement projects as a part of a team or conducts small projects on a part-time basis. Their methodology demonstrates reliance on a team effort to improve performance by removing waste.

This Yellow Belt training is a great way for students to learn more about continuous improvement, and is a wonderful resume builder. Students with Yellow Belt certifications are eligible to participate in Six Sigma-related projects within a company and have the opportunity to advance to a Green Belt stage where they can lead Six Sigma projects.

“Six Sigma was a great way to learn how to reduce cost and increase productivity in almost any process,” said Christopher O’Brien, senior finance major.

“The Six Sigma training was a phenomenal experience, which I would recommend to anyone with an interest in management or a related field,” said David Gliozzi, senior sports administration major. “The instructors were energetic and upbeat, which kept the learning fun and interesting. I can say that I learned a great deal of practical information on quality and lean management.”

The Management Association will host another Six Sigma Yellow Belt Training this upcoming spring 2015 semester. Interested students should contact Garrett Burba at or Tom Hardy at
