Matthews Lectures On Sleep for CNSM’s Science Inspires Series, Keeps Audience Wide Awake

Guest lecturer Karen Matthews presented her talk “Getting a Good Night’s Sleep: Is It Important For Cardiovascular Health?” on November 13, 2014, in Eberly Auditorium. The talk and the reception that followed saw a nearly full house of listeners in attendance. 

Dr. Karen Matthews for Science Inspires SeriesMatthews is a distinguished professor of psychiatry and professor of epidemiology and psychology at the University of Pittsburgh. Her research has been recognized by awards from the American Heart Association, APA Health Psychology and Pediatric Psychology divisions, Society of Behavioral Medicine, North American Menopause Society, and the American Psychosomatic Society. 

This talk marked the midpoint of this semester’s Science Inspires lecture series. The series will close out the semester with Ray Pavloski’s talk, “The Natural Science of Visual Objects,” on December 4 at 3:30 p.m. in 247 Johnson Hall.
