For the next offering to its Ovations! series, the Lively Arts at Indiana University of Pennsylvania will present, direct from Beijing, the National Acrobats of the People’s Republic of China. This one-night-only event will be held on November 11, 2014, at a family-friendly time of 7:00 p.m. in Fisher Auditorium of IUP’s Performing Arts Center.

“Cirque Peking,” the group’s current international tour, demonstrates daring feats and unique acrobatic talents that are sure to appeal to audiences of all ages. The show combines theater, dance, movement, and music into a highly engaging and entertaining performance.

The National Acrobats of the People’s Republic of China was founded in 1951 and has been one of the most acclaimed acrobatic troupes in their home country and around the world. Since its inception, there have been more than 200 artists of the company that have won gold and silver awards at international and national acrobatic competitions and circus festivals.

In 1972, the company visited the United States with 72 artists who were invited as guests to the White House. As performing arts ambassadors, the company played a key role in the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between China and the U.S., whose governments at that time had no formal diplomatic ties. Since then, the company has performed in 500 cities across 70 countries.

Tickets for this November 11 spectacular are available now online, or the Lively Arts. They can also be purchased at the Hadley Union Building ticket office on the IUP campus or by calling the HUB ticket office at (724) 357-1313. Any seats remaining will be sold at the door starting one hour prior to the performance. Tickets are priced at $40 for regular admission, $34 for seniors and groups, and $18 for students and children.
