IUP English graduates’ participation in the annual Three Rivers TESOL Conference at Chatham University in Pittsburgh, held on October 25, 2014, was impressive. The conference was a remarkable showcase of the local research on English as a Second Language.

Other participants were from Washington and Jefferson College, California University of Pennsylvania, Slippery Rock, CMU, Pitt, Duquesne, Chatham, Robert Morris, Kent State, and Indiana State. All demonstrated their academic and professional accomplishments.

IUP English graduate students dominated the scene. Out of 48 presentations listed in the program, 27 were from the Composition and TESOL and the MA in TESOL programs. Prior to the conference, many of these students participated in Lilia Savova’s annual Proposal Writing Workshops.

Students presented on a variety of second language education topics that focus on the application of linguistics, sociolinguistics, pedagogy, instructional design, assessment, and technology in second language teaching and learning and in second language teacher education.
