Joann Migyanka, faculty member in the Department of Special Education and Clinical Services, will serve on the Indiana Area School District's Project MAX Team.
Migyanka is the first higher education faculty member to be selected to serve.
Project MAX is funded through a U.S. Department of Education Office of Special Education Programs State Professional Development Grant.
The project works to increase the capacity of Pennsylvania schools to provide all students, including those with complex instructional needs, with maximum access to the general education curriculum and the Pennsylvania Core Standards.
Part of the long-term goals for this five-year grant is to include institutions of higher education to prepare educators and leaders with the competencies needed to teach all students.
Migyanka attended the Project Max Administrator's Professional Learning Community on September 30. She will meet monthly with the IASD team, PaTTAN consultants, and ARIN Intermediate Unit 28 consultant.
