Tyree and Janetski Receive Biology Research Grant Awards

David Janetski and Michael Tyree, first-year faculty members in the Department of Biology, received research grant awards.

Janetski is a co-investigator on a $196,310 grant from the Great Lakes Fishery Trust to study yellow perch stock assessment in drowned river mouth lakes and near-shore Lake Michigan. His collaborators are principal investigator Carl Ruetz III, professor of Fisheries, Grand Valley State University, and co-investigators Tomas Hook (Purdue University), David Clapp (Michigan Department of Natural Resources), and Ryan Thum (Montana State University).

Tyree is the principal investigator on a $23,994 LI-COR Environmental Education Fund (LEEF) Grant. This award will be used towards the purchase of an LEEF Bud Package that features the LI-6400XTP Portable Photosynthesis System for measuring plant respiration and photosynthesis.
