Laverick and Heider Discuss Supporting Children in Transition with Young Adult and Children’s Literature

DeAnna Laverick, Department of Professional Studies in Education, and Kelly Heider, educational librarian, co-authored the article “Supporting Students in Transition through the Use of Touchstone Texts for Literacy Instruction.” It was published in the fall 2014 issue of Pennsylvania Reads.

The article describes the ways in which teachers may use young adult and children’s literature as touchstone texts to support children as they navigate the transition process and develop literacy skills.
