the surrounding community, the Sustainability Studies Program introduces the Sustainability Studies Colloquium Series for the 2014–15 academic year. A total of four speakers from the
region and nation will engage different dimensions of sustainability,
including place-based learning, civic engagement, transdisciplinary pedagogy
and institution-building, and, finally, queer ecofeminism and climate
Our first guest speaker is Molly Steinwald, a photographer and ecologist with a background
in using the visual arts for environmental education and science
communication. Molly is a faculty member at Project
Dragonfly at Miami University, teaching graduate courses in ecology,
community-based conservation, and inquiry learning. She is also on the faculty in La
Roche College’s Biology Department, a visiting scholar at the University of
Pittsburgh Center for Learning in Out-of-School-Environments, an affiliate of the
International League of Conservation Photographers, and an
internationally-recognized photographer. An ecologist, her doctoral and other work incorporates imagery to
increase people's connection with nearby nature.
Please join us at the first guest lecture on Thursday, October 16, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. in the Susquehanna Room in the HUB.
