“Core Four” Business Planning Course Starts October 1

The Small Business Development Center and the Center for Family Business invite business owners to participate in Core Four, a business planning course in October from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

This 12-hour business planning course will be instructed by Debra Mason and will be held on Wednesdays in October. It will be held in the Eberly College of Business and Information Technology Board Room 201 and requires a $300 registration fee.

The purpose of Core Four is to teach entrepreneurs the four core bodies of knowledge: success planning, market planning, cash flow planning, and operations planning.

Students will examine the viability of business ideas based upon the completion of a self-assessment that includes financial goal setting, communication skills, selling skills, and contingency planning. Also, they will identify the support system and resources necessary for a sustainable business, including professional services, human capital, and legal requirements

The goal of this course is to help entrepreneurs identify market niche and understand the positioning of a business in the marketplace and the purpose of rationale for constructing cash flow projections. It will also explain the elements of a market plan and examine the strategies and factors that determine pricing of goods and services.
