Beginning October 1, 2014, faculty and students will be able to upload a photo of themselves into their profiles in D2L and Moodle.
Faculty have requested this capability in order to create a greater sense of community within courses.
Note: Uploading photos is strictly voluntary, so faculty members may not require students to provide their photo. There are legitimate reasons why students may choose not to upload their photo, such as concerns about stalking.
If a student posts an inappropriate photo, faculty members should ask the student to remove it. If the student does not comply, you should contact IT Services to have the photo removed.
Guidelines and how-to information will be provided to students in both D2L and Moodle and on the IT Support Center Profile Pictures web page. The guidelines were derived from such policies as the IT Acceptable Use and the Class Disruption policies (see The Source
, the student policy handbook). In addition, you may wish to include in your future syllabi a statement regarding appropriate student photos.
