Distinguished University Professor Kaniasty Gives International Talks in Summer 2014

During summer 2014, Psychology’s Krys Kaniasty gave several international talks.

As president of the Stress and Anxiety Research Society (STAR), Kaniasty gave a presidential address keynote entitled “Social Support RULES!!! & Social Support Rules …” at the 35th international STAR conference in Cluj, Romania (July 2–4). At the same conference, Kaniasty also presented a paper co-authored with two IUP students (Kara Schulz and Malgosia Mikula) titled “Disclosure of negative and positive life events and receipt of social support on social networking websites.”

In June, Kaniasty gave an invited seminar (“Primum non nocere: Rules of providing social support”) at the Institute of Psychology, Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw (Poland). 

In May, two researchers from Peking University Institute of Mental Health, Shang Fanhong and Professor Ma Hong, and Krys Kaniasty presented a paper (“Received Social Support and Well-being among Survivors in Lushan Earthquake”) at the 21st World Congress of the International Federation for Psychotherapy in Shanghai, China.
