The IUP Center for Counselor Training and Services (CCTS) will host an internationally known expert and pioneer in play therapy, Garry Landreth, for a one-day workshop on Friday, October 17, at the Greensburg Garden and Civic Center in Greensburg, Pa. His workshop is entitled “Healing the Hurting Child: The Necessary Dimensions of Child-Centered Play Therapy.”
Landreth is a Regents Professor in the Department of Counseling and founder of the Center for Play Therapy at the University of North Texas. Landreth is a frequent speaker at play therapy conferences around the world. He has over 150 journal articles, books, and DVDs, including the recent edition of his award-winning book Play Therapy: The Art of the Relationship. His other recent books are Child Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT): A 10-Session Filial Therapy Model and an accompanying Child Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT) Treatment Manual.
Landreth is director emeritus of the Association for Play Therapy (APT) and has received the APT Lifetime Achievement Award and the APT Research Award. He has also recently been appointed Honorary Visiting Professor at the University of Roehampton (U.K.).
