The September 2014 special issue of TESOL Journal, edited by Gloria Park and Sarah Henderson Lee (University of Minnesota, Manako), focuses on providing critical perspectives on World Englishes from teacher-scholars in order to further understand the role of English in various communities and in relation to individual’s identities as owners of English.
The co-editors discuss the importance of teacher-education contexts where educators can critique, discuss, and analyze how English is positioned around the world. Therefore, this issue focuses on teacher-scholar perspectives concerning online preparation and pedagogy, envisioned pedagogy, critical policy, and advocacy work. Overall, this issue of TESOL Jourmal aims to create dialogues around World Englishes perspectives in order to further prepare teacher-scholars as they, and their students, take ownership of the English language around the world.
