Due to inclement weather, the annual Sidewalk Commentary Contest, a.k.a.
“Chalk-on-the-Walk,” originally scheduled for Wednesday, April 30, 2014, and then moved to May 2, is now scheduled for Monday, May 5.
If the weather remains in question for Monday, an announcement will be posted on the Lively Arts’ Facebook page by early Monday morning. You may also contact the Lively Arts at 724-357-2787.
This is
an annual student contest presented by the IUP College of Fine Arts and
the IUP chapter of the National Art Education Association. Students, student organizations, and IUP classes are encouraged to
create a social or political message in chalk between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30
p.m., with colored chalk provided.
Judging will occur between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. Prizes awarded (for IUP
students only) will be announced in the Oak Grove at 5:00 p.m. The
public is invited to stroll through the Oak Grove to watch students
create their drawings throughout the day and when the works are
completed.
This event has been a campus tradition for nearly 25 years, starting
in the spring of 1990. In case of inclement weather, announcements will
be made through signage, e-mail, and social media as to a rescheduling
or cancellation of the event.
